ELCA sends in reaction on EU call for evidence Water Resilience Strategy
22-07-2025

The European Commission has recently opened a call for evidence for the new Water Resilience Strategy. With this strategy the Commission wants to address the challenge of water scarcity, amongst others caused by climate change. ELCA welcomes this EU Water Resilience Strategy warmly and has sent in a reaction on behalf of the landscape garden sector.

In its reaction ELCA emphasizes on three dimensions of water resilience for the landscape garden sector. The first one is, that we are the professionals in creating nature-based solutions to absorb and store rain water. Not only do these green solutions prevent damage or risks of flooding, but the storage of water is for us also very important to keep the greenery alive during periods of drought. The second dimension is therefore that we are also an important stakeholder in the availability and use of water. ELCA is furthermore of the opinion, that cooperation with other urban green professionals within our SoGreen Alliance, municipalities and vocational training organizations is important to achieve our goal of water resilience.

We are looking forward to the reaction of the European Commission on our input. If you are interested in our reaction on the EU Water Resilience Strategy, please contact Secretary General Egbert Roozen by mail at contact@elca.info.
