Exciting News! Introducing the ELCA Green Award: Competition Green School Yard 2023

We're thrilled to announce the ELCA Green Award, a competition aimed at promoting outstanding projects by professional landscape contractors and fostering a vibrant platform within the ELCA Committee of Firms. This year, we're focusing on the theme of Green School Yard, highlighting the importance of creating climate-friendly, healthy, and nature-rich spaces for children to play and learn.

How It Works:

Landscape contractors enter their projects for nomination by ELCA member-associations, representing European and international participants.

The projects will be showcased on the ELCA website, with short descriptions and captivating photographs. The voting will be conducted electronically, ensuring fairness and transparency.

Members of the ELCA Committee of Firms will cast their votes to determine the winner. The project with most votes will be awarded the prestigious ELCA Green Award.

Projects and Purpose:

The competing projects in the Green School Yard category must be completed between January 1st, 2015, and January 1st, 2022. These projects create vibrant outdoor spaces linked to primary schools that foster environmental awareness, encourage imaginative play, and promote physical development. Additionally, these school yards provide a home for plants and animals, fostering biodiversity and social cohesion in the surrounding community.

Regulations and Registration:

To participate, all parties involved must consent to the competition conditions. ELCA member-associations will submit applications on behalf of nominated projects, with no registration fee required. The application form, accompanied by relevant annexes, including drawings and high-quality photographs, must be submitted by July 1st, 2023, to contact@elca.info.

Evaluation Criteria:

The jury will evaluate the projects based on various criteria, including the overall urban, architectural, biological, and technical solutions. Factors such as sustainability, rainwater management, user satisfaction, accessibility, and more will also be considered.

Voting Process:

ELCA Committee of Firms members will have the opportunity to vote for multiple projects and assign one, two, or three stars to their favorite project. The order of project display on the website will be randomly shuffled to ensure impartiality. Voting will take place electronically on the ELCA website from September 1st to October 1st, 2023.

ELCA Green Award Trophy:

ELCA Green Award Trophy, created by the M. van der Spek Group, symbolizes the excellence and sustainability showcased by the winning project.
